I want to play it one of these days! Violin Concerto Masterpieces

Mar 8, 2022

If you have been learning the violin for a long time,
If you have been learning the violin for a long time, you may have to play "concertos" (violin concertos) as your assignments.
So, at what level do you need to reach in order to be able to play such pieces?
The following are typical pieces of violin concertos and their approximate difficulty levels,
I would like to explain the approximate difficulty level.

◆Bach Violin Concerto No.1 in A minor
This is a masterpiece by the great Bach.
It is considered to be well done if an adult can play it in about five years after starting to play the violin.

◆Bach Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major
You may prefer this piece to No. 1 in A minor.
The difficulty level is about the same as the first.

◆Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3.

If you have been playing for about 6-7 years and have learned to play there, I think you can play it.
However, it is a severe piece that does not lend itself to gomaekashi. Please play it carefully.

◆Mozart Violin Concerto No. 4
The beginning of this piece is said to be like a military band.
However, it can be said that the rest of the piece seems to be the ultimate in liturgical elegance.

◆Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5 "Turkish Style"
It is said to be more difficult than the third and fourth.
The final movement is characterized by its imitation of a Turkish military band.

◆Viniakhsky Violin Concerto No. 2
This is a masterpiece by Viniavsky, known as the Chopin of the violin.

◆◆Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor

It is popular as a cool violin concerto to play.
It takes about seven years to learn how to play it.
However, since the difficulty level of the third movement is extremely high, seven years may not be enough.
In particular, mastery of right hand control is essential.

◆Vivaldi Violin Concerto "Spring" from "Four Seasons"
This is a famous piece.
It requires a tremendous speed of string transfers (right technique) at the same level as Mendelssohn.

◆Graznov Violin Concerto
It is difficult, but it is a short piece.
With careful practice, even a late starter may be able to play it.
(It depends on your passion...)
The sweet melody that appears here and there is very attractive.

◆Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto
If you start playing the violin as an adult and can play this piece, you are a god.
You may be interviewed for a TV program.

◆Sibelius Violin Concerto This piece is often performed at graduation performances by music school students.

◆Conclusion
