There is a cellist
Oct 18, 2024
Hello, I am a cellist! To all the cello players out there! This time, I'd like to share some "aha" moments that are unique to cello players!
Can you all relate to any of them?
1. always mindful of space
When you move around with your cello, you always have to calculate its size and space.
Riding the train? You'll appreciate the wheelchair space (if available) more than the seats.
Loading it into a car? Check trunk size in advance.
Taking the bullet train? You must reserve luggage space near the aisle.
When entering a restaurant, first check to see if there is room for your cello.
Moving with a cello is like constantly solving a giant puzzle.
Moving with a cello is a constant struggle (-_-;)
2. proud of my finger calluses
To the average person, it may look like just a callus on your finger,
To us, it is a medal.
These marks, which form after long hours of practice, are proof of diligent effort and passion.
However, some people believe that it is not a good idea to play in a way that causes too many calluses.
3. humming anytime, anywhere
To memorize a tune or to visualize a performance,
Cellists hum the melody anytime and anywhere.
This has led to strange looks in public places and libraries,
Once or twice, I have been looked at strangely in public places or libraries because of this.
4. "Is that a guitar?" I keep getting asked.
Whenever I am in a public place with my cello, I am asked, "Is that a guitar?" In the beginning, I would politely answer, "It's a cello.
At first I would politely answer, "It's a cello,
But as I was asked again and again, it became my boom to answer, "No, it's a bigger version of the violin.
Being a cellist brings not only these "ah-ha's" but also a deep sense of satisfaction and joy.
Our instrument is a part of ourselves,
feel that we have a special ability to touch people's hearts through music.
I hope that this blog will be of interest to cellists, and to anyone interested in music,
