What is a shovel shamisen?

Do you all want to be able to play the shamisen?

I would like to be able to play any kind of shamisen.
I usually play the piano, but I think that if I live in Japan, I should be able to play at least one of the Japanese musical instruments.

However, it takes a lot of time and effort to learn to enjoy playing the shamisen.

I wanted to somehow master the Japanese instruments with less effort.
That is when I came across the shovel shamisen.


What is the shovel shamisen? What is shovel shamisen?

A large shovel used for shoveling snow is used as a shamisen, and the surface of the shovel is struck with a bottle opener to produce a sound.
This is the Shovel Shamisen.

Unlike the shamisen, the shovel shamisen has no pitch.
For this reason, the shovel shamisen is usually played with a karaoke soundtrack.

Because it is a percussion instrument without pitch,
On stage, the performer must have the ability to make it look as if it were a solo instrument with pitch.

Shovel shamisen is a banquet art similar to air guitar, though,
Unlike the air guitar, the shovel shamisen requires a constant sense of rhythm because it produces a realistic striking sound.


◆Different from kankara sanshin!

The kankara shamisen is a shamisen whose body is substituted with a can, which makes it a tonal shamisen.
Therefore, it is more difficult than the shovel shamisen, which has no pitch.
